  About The School

Vision

North Douglas Elementary envisions a partnership with families and the community that provides a positive, safe, supportive, and challenging atmosphere.  We promote a lifelong learning experience that empowers all students to reach their maximum potential in a diverse environment.  We commit to fostering the character development and academic success of every student through proven instructional strategies and technology.  North Douglas Elementary School is a place of hope for a better future where individuals are valued and inspired to discover their dreams.

Stingray Story

North Douglas Elementary opened its doors in 2004.  It was built using funds from SPLOST.  SPLOST is a special local sales tax that supports building and maintaining of parks, schools, and roads.  We are a Title I school that currently serves approximately 500 students in pre - kindergarten through grade five.  Our school curriculum is based on the Georgia Performance Standards. We offer standards based instruction.  Our test scores and student portfolios indicate an outstanding staff and fantastic students.

The focal point for North Douglas Elementary instruction is on Language Arts (reading, language, spelling, handwriting and writing), Math, Social Studies, Science, and Health.  The media center provides classroom teachers, parents, and students with quality resources that will help students maximize learning.  We have a staff of 78, which includes administrators, teachers, secretaries, paraprofessionals, cafeteria workers, custodians, and other support personnel.  We currently have 6 teachers in Kindergarten and 3rd grade.  First , Second, Fourth, and Fifth grades currently have 5 teachers.  This helps to minimize class size and maximize instruction.  Our school is also the home for two Special Education Pre-K classes with one teacher and one paraprofessional in each room.  There are also two special education classes each having a teacher and paraprofessionals.  We offer speech/language services, Physical Education, Music, Art, Technology, Program Challenge, Special Education, and English as a Second Language.

Each classroom at North Douglas Elementary is equipped with 6 computers.  Our computer lab is arranged with 27 multimedia computers, one interactive Smart board, one scanner, and one color laser printers.  North Douglas Elementary students and staff can utilize 6 multimedia computers, one laser printer, one scanner, and a digital camera that are located in our Media Center.  Our students begin each morning with a live student led newscast focusing on school events and character education.
